Nine deer, and where to stand
The rut runs through the corrie from late September. Here is how to watch it without ruining it.

Red deer do not care about you until you are downwind of them, and then they care very much. That single fact is most of what you need.
The corrie holds a group of nine or so through the rut. Come up the low path from Hind’s Rest, stop at the ruined shieling, and sit. Do not go over the lip. The wind at Larchfield swings west to south-west most evenings, so the shieling puts it in your face and keeps your scent off the ground they are on.
Bring something to sit on and something warm to put over it. You will be still for longer than you planned.
